YOUU-NESS

About Me

Nissa, YOUU-NESS bodyworker

I have been a bodyworker for over 20 years, supporting people through touch, movement, and awareness-based practices. My path to this work has been anything but linear — I hold a master's degree in piano performance and music education from Northwestern University, along with a music therapy credential.

My professional foundation also includes study in anatomy, physiology, chemistry, mathematics, and cadaver dissection. Before pursuing bodywork full time, I worked as a physical therapy aide at Athletico in Illinois and spent years observing occupational and physical therapy practice. I was also accepted into a top-ranked graduate program at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2007 — but ultimately chose to follow a path rooted in somatic healing.

My approach is fascia-focused, trauma-informed, and somatically oriented — honoring the whole person rather than applying standardized protocols. I work with diverse populations and tailor every session dynamically to what your body needs that day.

Equity & Access

I believe meaningful care should be available to everyone. I offer a limited number of pro bono and reduced-fee sessions for financially disadvantaged clients, particularly those navigating complex conditions.

Outside the Studio

When I'm not working, you'll find me traveling, camping, hiking, backpacking, cooking, or drawing — or spending time with my husband, stepdaughters, and our two corgis, Latte and Ato (Macchiato), named after our late corgi, Mocha.
